Glaucoma Management

In the United States, glaucoma is the second most common cause of blindness. Glaucoma refers to a group of eye disorders that cause damage to the optic nerve, which is the nerve that carries visual information from the eye to the brain. Glaucoma rarely afflicts those under the age of 35 and there is an increased risk of developing glaucoma over time. If left untreated, vision can be reduced to a narrow area known as tunnel vision and in some cases total blindness. The damage to the optic nerve, in many cases, is due to increased pressure in the eye, but in some cases the eye pressure remains within the normal range. Our instrumentation allows for early detection and careful monitoring of the disease process. Our doctors will manage your care and assure proper treatment given your level of disease.
